Inspired by the modern classic, Wings of Desire. City of Angels is about Seth, an angel watching over Los Angeles, who begins to find his job increasingly difficult as he falls in love with Maggie, a heart surgeon.  She believes that it is her job to save the lives of her patients but when she meets Seth after visiting hours are over, he tells her it's simply just their time to go. She becomes intrigued by his presence and opinion.  And soon his not-quite-mortal state becomes a barrier rather than a gift.  A choice must be made between celestial duty and earthly love. 

City of Angels is a romantic drama that ticks all the boxes for me.
